Industry Partnerships

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Lamar University is actively engaged in partnerships with the industry to incorporate real-world senior design projects, skills and knowledge in our engineering education.

Our curriculum is aligned with industry needs as per ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), hence, our graduates are industry-ready. Through our valuable collaboration with industrial partners in Southeast Texas and beyond, our students acquire the most current and relevant industry knowledge, practices and technologies.

You can communicate with us in two ways:

Connect

Connect with Karli Padia, Director of Outreach and Student Services for the College of Engineering (karli.padia@lamar.edu), or Dr. Karkoub, the mechanical engineering department chair (mkarkoub@lamar.edu) for your Company’s campus goals, and identify opportunities to partner with our faculty on research and/or recruit our students.

Collaborate

Meet our faculty and staff to discuss any research interests, internships, co-ops, senior design projects. We will help you identify the right path forward.  Please call Ms. Kara Dewberry at (409) 880 8769 to arrange for a visit/meeting.

Senior Design Projects

It is essential for our students to work on real-life projects. Therefore, at the start of each academic year, we solicit projects from our industrial partners for our 2-semester senior design course.

Our students will work on your engineering problem to devise solutions that meet your requirements and the courses. Senior design projects may help you identify potential recruits for your company and could lead to further academia/industry collaborations.

If you would like to suggest a senior design project topic, please use this form or contact Dr. Karkoub, the mechanical engineering department chair.
