Why Study at Lamar University?

Our faculty is dedicated to student success. Small class sizes create a personalized experience for the student and professor, while a wide-range of research topics from various faculty gives students more opportunities to pursue the research that interests them.

The department offers financial support to competitive students. Typically, if a graduate student is qualified (based on transcripts, GRE and TOEFL/IELTS), one will be offered an out-of-state tuition waiver, plus $1,000/year general graduate scholarship. With this scholarship, one only needs to pay in-state tuition, which is significantly lower than the full tuition.

The Industrial Engineering department prepares students for industry. We have relatively low tuition cost, smaller classes, and tight connections between faculty and students. We have access to many employers in the Houston metropolitan area and nationwide. We also work with the College of Business to offer the SAP certificate. We offer classes that teach in demand software such as Creo, R, Matlab, SQL, and Python (Sci-Kit Learn). We have faculty who teach advanced practical courses in a wide range of subjects including Supply Chain Management, Reliability, Data Mining, Lean, Six Sigma, and Quality.
